Description
Old rusty railroad tracks with some pretty dappled sunlight. Seen near Ellicott City, Maryland.
The track on a railway or railroad, also known as the permanent way, is the structure consisting of the rails, fasteners, railroad ties, and ballast, plus the underlying subgrade. It enables trains to move by providing a dependable surface for their wheels to roll. For clarity it is often referred to as railway track (British English) or railroad track (predominantly in the United States).
I named this photo after one of my favorite songs from my younger days - Jumping Someone Else's Train by The Cure - release date 1980.
